About me

I've been working in IT for over 10 years. I have experince with VMWare, Windows Server and Cisco Devices. I like studying for Certiticates and like to tinker in my homelab.

I started my career as a IT technician for an insurance company. It was just a 6 months contract but for me, it was my first job in IT and I was excited. Like many other people, I started off doing small tech jobs for my friends and family, installing software, troubleshooting printers and so on. I thought at that time, I know everything about computers and boy was I wrong. I remember learning about RAID during my CompTIA A+ class and it blew my mind.

During my time at the insurance company, I learned a lot, I worked with Developers and Systems Administrators and got to see both side of the world. I would gravitate towards more the infrastructure side of things but I did appreciate those developers since I tried 5 times to learn python and couldn't do it. Although I really liked this job, I spent 18 months there but I was just on contract, and also, over time, I had more and more of my responsibilties taken away, I wasn't able to work on Active Directory or Microsoft Exchange, so I really wasn't learning much and I didn't see myself becoming a full time employee, so unfortunately I had to leave.

My next job was at a Property Management company and I was part of a smaller team, which was a bit because I had a bit more freedom to do stuff. I had full access to Active Directory and Microsoft exchange, plus I was able to work with vendors to order things. After 5 years, I because a Senior HelpDesk person, then I was promoted to a Systems Administrator and then a Senior Systems Administrator. It's been great. I work with amazing and smart people, and I've learnt so much from this place.

But my journey doesn't end here. I'll know you when I get up next, so stay tuned.
